Halloween book sale! Get The Sanheim Chronicles, "the perfect books for Halloween," for just 99 cents!

This is my favorite day of the year.
To my mind, Halloween is better than my birthday, Christmas or any other holiday. What's not to love? It's got spooky stories, kids in costumes and tons of candy.
That's why I'm offering the largest sale on my own books TODAY only - and just for you. That's right. Aside from a brief bit on Facebook, I'm not advertising this deal. It's too good. Of course, you should feel free to tell your friends, relations and anyone else about it. But you're my primary audience.
So what's on sale? The big news here is The Sanheim Chronicles box set  is just 99 cents. That's right. Three novels and more than 1,500 pages about Halloween, ghosts, banshees, Celtic mythology and the Headless Horseman are just 99 cents! That's 33 cents a book!
Find out why the series has earned hundreds of rave reviews, with readers calling it "one of the best urban fantasy trilogies I've ever read," "a stellar series" and "so good I wish it were a movie."
Again, this deal lasts ONE DAY, so buy it now for Kindle here
But wait, that's not all. I've also made each novel in the series just 99 cents. Why? Because some of you may want to own each book individually or have previously bought some in the series. It's also the best way to get the audiobook versions for cheap. If you own the Kindle version of a book, the audio version is as low as $1.99!
If you'd rather buy each one separately, click below:
A Soul to Steal - Two reporters, a serial killer and a legendary ghost collide in this pulse-pounding supernatural thriller. The novel that started it all, featured on USA Today, and endorsed by Mark Metcalf, the actor who played The Master on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Be sure to pick up the audiobook while you're at it. It's awesome!
Band of Demons - Kate and Quinn return to face a new evil that threatens to destroy their town and everyone they love. "An ending that will leave you gasping for air." Buythe audiobook too for just $1.99!
Give the Devil His Due - The thrilling conclusion to the series. "Ever since this trilogy came out, I have read it every year for Halloween. It's that good."  Pick up the audiobook while you're at it.
I could stop there. But it's Halloween, so what the hell? I'm also offering my short story, The Last Blog, completely FREE. It's my take on the classic haunted house story - with a few twists naturally. (Those with a sharp eye will see references to both The Sanheim Chronicles and the Soren Chase series.)
Speaking of Soren, I know some of you have had trouble downloading your second free Soren Chase novella. That's why today - and today only - Carnival of Stone is completely FREE on Kindle. So, if you've received that error message about signing up for Dropbox or just never bothered to download it at all, this is your chance to put it straight on your Kindle for nothing. I'm sorry if you've had any hassle.
And finally - yeesh, this is long - one last treat. The Forest of Forever, the first full-length novel of the Soren Chase series, is FREE for all Amazon prime members as part of Prime Reading. I'm not sure when that deal ends, so download it today and get reading!
As always, if you enjoy any of the short stories, novellas, novels, audiobooks or box sets on offer, please leave a review. It makes a huge difference.
I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween!

Big news -- Soren Chase sale and the Headless Horseman heads to Germany!

Happy 4th of July!

I hope you had a great holiday yesterday.

So I have a little bit of news. First, I'm pleased to announce that both The Forest of Forever and The Pretender are part of a special promotion this week: Kindle Press fan favorites! You can pick up each for just 99 cents! If you haven't already, find out why readers are calling this series "urban fantasy at its best."
One recent reviewer proclaimed of Forest: "The end was mind-blowing for me. The first time in a long time I didn't see the full picture coming." Or how about this one: "Blackwell has taken common urban-fantasy tropes and turned them sidewise until they become new again."

And because it's summer, now's a great time to pick up the third book in the series: The Woman in the White Mask. Read all three at the beach, by the pool or in a cabin in the woods. Actually, maybe not that last one. It might get a little intense, given the subject matter. Or maybe you're brave enough to handle it? :)
I also have another announcement. My first novel, A Soul to Steal, has been translated and published in German! You can see the completely scary cover to the left or here. The translation, I'm told, means, "Cursed -- Night of the Dead."  It's being published by Mantikore, a fantasy/horror publisher in Germany, and the book will be at the Frankfurt book festival in October. To be honest, this is completely unexpected. When I first published the book, I thought I'd be lucky if it sold 100 copies. It never occurred to me to dream it would be translated into other languages.

As for how well a novel about the Headless Horseman will translate to a German audience, who knows? Considering ol' Headless was a Hessian mercenary and Washington Irving was inspired by a German folk tale, I can always hope. But if you happen to have any friends in Germany, please let them know it's out! (It's published on the German Amazon store here.)

As for my next adventure, I'm hard at work on it as we speak. I hope to have something to say in the near (but not too near) future.

Until then, I hope you have a glorious summer.

Celebrate Halloween in April! Download my highest-rated novel completely FREE!

It's Halloween in April!

With just a little over six months left until Halloween, it's time to get into the seasonal spirit. Okay, maybe I'm jumping the gun a tad, but I have an exciting offer:

A Soul to Steal, my first and most-rated novel (with 294 reviews and counting), is absolutely FREE for a limited time. And the sequel, Band of Demons, is just 99 cents!

This is the first time in several years that A Soul to Steal has been available for free, and I don't know when or if it will be free again in the future. It's also the first time in more than two years that Band of Demons has been on sale, so grab that too while you're at it. (The final part of the trilogy, Give the Devil His Due, is also available!)

If you haven't read The Sanheim Chronicles, here's the gist: A Celtic myth and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow collide in a trilogy that combines urban fantasy, mystery and suspense. In A Soul to Steal, two reporters race to uncover the identity of a serial killer before a promised bloodbath on Halloween. But to stop him, they may unleash a darker threat -- and pay an unimaginable price. In Band of Demons, the reporters face a threat of another kind that may destroy their entire town.

The series has been featured on USA Today and has been downloaded on more than 100,000 Kindles! Featuring the Headless Horseman in an entirely new mythology, it has won praise from book bloggers and readers alike. Amazon bestselling novelist Melissa F. Olson says: "Contemporary reporters stumble into ancient powers - and modern urban fantasy gets a colonial Gothic twist. Blackwell's smartly original series is heady - and headless - good fun."

So what are you waiting for? There's literally no reason not to download the first book for FREE. And if you want a real treat, after you download A Soul to Steal, you can pick up the audiobook version on Audible for just $1.99! And the same is true for Band of Demons -- if you buy the Kindle version for 99 cents, you can pick up the audiobook for just $1.99. That means you can get two novels and their audiobooks for a total of less than $5. I guess it's not just a soul you're stealing (lame joke, sorry.)

I hope you'll give the series a try. If you love it, do me a favor and please leave a review! It really helps.

I hope you're having a terrific spring!

Finally, I have one more thing to share. Some authors and I have gotten together to offer a FREE Kindle Fire and 20 sci-fi and fantasy books to one lucky winner. New Soren Chase book just released! Four men trapped in a cabin -- and a monster hunting them. You won't believe how this novel ends!

It’s finally here! I’m very excited to announce the publication of The Woman in the White Mask, the third full-length novel in the Soren Chase series. If you’ve read the first two books (or even any of the novellas), this is the novel you’ve been waiting for. You’ll finally learn what really happened eight years ago when Soren and his three friends were attacked by a supernatural being.

The attack left Soren scarred and under suspicion for murder. Since then, he’s become a paranormal investigator. It also left him with a huge hole in his memory about exactly what transpired that night. Why did the mysterious pretender—a creature that can take the form of anyone—target Soren’s best friend, John Townes? Was it just hunting for sport or did it have a more nefarious agenda? And, more importantly, what the hell happened? This is the novel that tells you.

As one early reviewer put it: “In The Woman in the White Mask, I finally got the payoff that I’ve been waiting for since I first read Closed at Dark. The Soren Chase series is a mystery at the core. What actually happened years ago, when Soren and his best friends were in a cabin? In all the Soren Chase novels to this point, the answer has always been danced around. I’d receive glimpses, impressions, but now, in the latest novel, Rob Blackwell finally answers the questions.”

I’ve enjoyed teasing out this mystery over three novels and two novellas, but now it’s time to spill the beans.

Following is the official description of The Woman in the White Mask:

Eight years ago, Soren Chase was attacked by a vicious supernatural creature that murdered his friends and stole his memory. Now a mysterious woman in a white mask is forcing him to relive that night--as both a victim and the killer.

Her arrival couldn't come at a worse time. Someone is raising demons and setting them loose, and only Soren can stop them. But as the supernatural assaults grow more frequent, his visions of the past start to take an alarming toll. It's a grim race to see which might kill him first.

The Woman in the White Mask is the third novel in the highly-rated Soren Chase series, which mixes urban fantasy, mystery and suspense. Find out why readers are hailing it as a book with "just the right mix of thrills, action, Maltese Falcon Bogart, strong plot, characters and excellent writing."

So what are you waiting for? Go buy the book today! And if you’re looking to catch up on The Forest of Forever or The Pretender—which I recommend before taking the dive here, they will be on sale for $1 each starting on Wednesday. That means you can get the entire series for just $6! If you’ve already read the books, please leave a review and spread the word to others. The future of Soren Chase depends on you!

New Year, new look for The Forest of Forever. Check out the brand new cover!

To help usher in the new year, I’m happy to announce that The Forest of Forever has a brand new cover!
I’m a bit nervous about showing it to you, since I loved the previous cover. But after feedback over the past year and a half since its release, I’ve been told time and again that the cover didn’t have the same “look” as other novels in the urban fantasy genre.
Over time, I started to wonder if the cover was preventing readers who might be exactly the type to enjoy it from ever noticing it in the first place. So a few months ago, I ordered a new cover from a different designer.
This is an experiment. If this cover performs better, you’ll see all new covers for the Soren Chase novels. If it doesn’t make a difference or sales plummet, you may see the old cover back. But one of the exciting things about publishing these days is that you can try new things, and Kindle Press has been kind enough to let me attempt this.
You can see the new cover below. Let me know what you think! I know some of you may have an attachment to the old cover—I certainly do—but I hope you’ll like this one.
I’ll be back with more news VERY soon about the next book in the Soren Chase series! Until then, I hope you have a happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a fun and relaxing holiday season. Mine was very good, if you don't count the vomit I had to clean up at 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve (ah, kids, they bring such joy to your life).

There's some great looking urban fantasy and supernatural suspense titles on there, as well as epic fantasy and military scifi. That includes my own Carnival of Stone, which you can sign up for by going here.

Until next time, I wish you much joy and vomit-free happiness in the New Year!
